Osaka

The second station of our 2014 vacation was Japan’s Osaka city. In Japan, as in South Korea, time was six hours ahead of Turkey. We arrived at Kansai Airport (KIX) at about 12:00 from Seoul  after 2 hours flight by Peach Airlines. The first thing we do when we arrived at the airport was to buy the Pocket Wi-fi package we bought in Istanbul. We paid 7000 Yens for 9 days wireless internet and it was very useful for us as long as we stayed in Japan. There was no map of Japan in the navigation of our phones, we always used Google Maps on the tablet.

Currency is Japanese Yen (JPY). 1 Yen was equal to approximately 0.02 Turkish Liras.

Traffic works from left side in Japan. Turkish citizens who have regular passports don’t need visa for 90 days in their travels.

1. day – 29.07.2014

Even though we were in Osaka at noon, wecould  arrive at the hotel (Hotel il Grande Umeda) in the evening. Today we were only able to visit Osaka Castle. We did not have time to visit the Umeida Sky Building Floating Garden Observatory, Dotonbori Street, Namba and Shinsaibashi Shopping District even though they take place on our list of places to see.

The next day we went to Nara and took a day trip to Nara.

Nara Travel Notes

In Osaka, fancy manhole covers caught my attention also. I think, these covers make the streets colorful which have the Osaka Castle and the cherry trees on it.
